Watch New Decoding Deepak Movie Special

Movie Title : Decoding Deepak
Release Date : Oct 5, 2012 Limited
Mpaa Rating : Unrated
Genre :Documentary,Faith & Spirituality,Special Interest

Film-maker and journalist Gotham Chopra embarks on a year long roadtrip with his father Deepak Chopra in an attempt to resolve the spiritual icon he is to the world vs. the real man known to his family. From devoted disciples that range from Lady Gaga to lost souls searching for themselves in the red rock deserts of Sedona, Gotham begins to paint a raw portrait of his dad that only a son can. The film travels across the planet chronicling colorful Deepak activities - from a traditional monk ordainment in Thailand to a literal decoding of ancient family registers in rural India. On the homefront, Gotham also takes a closer look at the expansive spiritual empire his father has built over his 25 year career that initially was conceived out of Deepak's own deep personal and spiritual dissatisfaction, and a decidedly non-spiritual (and boozy) origin. -- (C) Official Site

New Trailer For Decoding Deepak

Decoding
Special Review For Movie Decoding Deepak
There is precious little table-turning or real insight in "Decoding Deepak" - unless uncovering a passion for Starbucks and a preference for upscale hotels counts as takedown material.
Mark Olsen-Los Angeles Times

"Decoding" ultimately becomes Gotham's gentle tribute to Dad, who shall probably provide handsomely for his heirs. It is also a tacit endorsement of Chopra Inc.
Andy Webster-New York Times

While Decoding offers some tantalizing insights into the celebrity guru, the movie, at its core, is playing out daddy issues as the filmmaker wonders aloud about whether his dad has gotten too big for his britches.
Scott Bowles-USA Today

Like its subject, the movie is not as calculating as it seems.
Joe Neumaier-New York Daily News

As much an exercise in self-help as it is a demystification of its title character.
Michael Nordine-Village Voice

Tthe film feels amateurish and leaves a lot to be desired as a documentary on one of the world's biggest spiritual icons.
Emily Kirkpatrick-Paste Magazine

Glossy tribute from a son to his eminent guru of a papa is not so different, even with all that spirituality, from recent film portraits of Katy Perry and Justin Bieber.
David Noh-Film Journal International

A documentary following Deepak Chopra, a fireball of energy, creativity and spiritual vision, on the road for a year, filmed by his son.
Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat-Spirituality and Practice

Unlike his father, Gotham Chopra is more interested in his own latent daddy issues than with questions of cosmic import.
Calum Marsh-Slant Magazine

"R2B" wanders into the weeds, with inordinate amounts of time given to one character's domestic life and another's emerging romance.

New Trailer For Shadow Dancer

Shadow
Special Review For Movie Shadow Dancer
The film relies on terse dialogue and boggy colors to create an atmosphere dense with anxiety -- all well handled by director James March.
Walter V. Addiego-San Francisco Chronicle

A respectable political/psychological suspenser, but not a wildly entertaining or enjoyable one.
Colin Covert-Minneapolis Star Tribune

A tautly minimalist, occasionally generic study of betrayal and family ties.
Ty Burr-Boston Globe

[Riseborough's] work is indrawn and riveting. It's hard to read the look in her eye, but we never stop trying.
Steven Rea-Philadelphia Inquirer

This British thriller by James Marsh is a little too neatly scripted and tightly edited for my taste, but there are galvanizing performances from Andrea Riseborough... and Clive Owen.
J. R. Jones-Chicago Reader

These are characters for whom true belief in a cause has probably become impossible; they know how much that costs. Marsh does a compelling job of illustrating that for the rest of us.
Bill Goodykoontz-Arizona Republic

It's absorbing, intelligent and sad.
Chris Hewitt (St. Paul)-St. Paul Pioneer Press

Themes ripped from today's headlines lend "The Troubles" of Northern Ireland very tense, sobering, contemporary immediacy. . . Riseborough [is] mesmerizing at first sight.
Nora Lee Mandel-Film-Forward.com

[Director James Marsh] shows a deft hand with his actors and elicits a notable performance from [Andrea] Riseborough. The production is straightforward on all fronts and catches the bleakness hovering above Belfast under siege.
Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Marsh focuses this slowly simmering drama on more universal themes of family, betrayal and decisions that people make that are both right and wrong at the same time.
Christine N. Ziemba-Paste Magazine

a potent, ultimately disheartening slow-burn drama
James Kendrick-Q Network Film Desk

So many situations and plot points seem too sketchy here, but the two main characters manage to intrigue us, thanks to Andrea Riseborough and Clive Owen.
Betty Jo Tucker-ReelTalk Movie Reviews

...a quietly disturbing look at the choices placed before someone who is caught between two worlds, neither offering harbor.
Laura Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Shadow Dancer is a quiet film that demands careful attention...
Leonard Maltin-Leonard Maltin's Picks

By keeping politics in the background and emphasizing more than a few tenuous relationships, he allows the conflict, mistrust, and dishonesty in both Collette's and Mac's camps to come through without taking sides.
Joe Friedrich-TV Guide's Movie Guide

Dead-serious but also rather deadly is this IRA thriller, too intent on being portentous rather than riveting.
David Noh-Film Journal International

The only poetry in this harsh film is in the title.
Craig Seligman-Bloomberg News

The movie is sure-footed in its storytelling, right up to its appropriately open-ended conclusion.
Ethan Alter-Television Without Pity

Lee
Special Review For Movie Lee Daniels' The Butler
Forest Whitaker imbues his part with immense dignity and the old-age makeup is effective showcasing Cecil during his later years.
James Berardinelli-ReelViews

Winfrey is good, though, demonstrating yet again that she's an actress and not just a celebrity playing an actress.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

A history lesson in violence and endurance. A sentimental journey. A tribute. Director Daniels and the dedicated cast of The Butler deliver all that.
Lisa Kennedy-Denver Post

The Butler may be a sanctimonious cartoon, but it points to events in the civil rights struggle that were as grotesque and extraordinary as any fiction can invent.
Liam Lacey-Globe and Mail

"The Butler" mixes big issues and big people and real human life with surprising grace.
Tom Long-Detroit News

It's too obviously a careful tour through American history, and while some sequences work - particularly the various attacks on civil-rights workers - too much of it feels as flat and cheap as a film strip.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

Good story about a White House butler but too episodic in order to get all Civil Rights events included.
Jackie K. Cooper-jackiekcooper.com

Daniels certainly flirts with greatness, and even if he doesn't quite get there -- except on occasion -- he's made a very worthy film.
Ken Hanke-Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)

Maudlin claptrap
Louis Proyect-rec.arts.movies.reviews

Oprah Winfrey is great at everything. This is no news flash, but it's as apparent as ever when watching Lee Daniels' The Butler.
Carla Meyer-Sacramento Bee

Sometimes corn is good for you.
Kelly Vance-East Bay Express

Whitaker's steadfast performance as an ordinary man in extraordinary times is what makes 'The Butler' so special.
Lori Hoffman-Atlantic City Weekly

Despite the awkward, narcissistic title and the oddity of seeing John Cusack playing Richard Nixon, Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower, Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan and Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan, this is a good film.
Robert Roten-Laramie Movie Scope

A film with its heart very clearly in the right place, and its imagination left behind in a locked root cellar.
Tim Brayton-Antagony & Ecstasy

Instead of rolling out historical content like a mighty stream, it only trickles weakly
John A. Nesbit-Old School Reviews

Uninvolving bio-pic about a man who just happened to be around when things happened. Latter day Zelig fails to grip.
Boo Allen-Denton Record Chronicle (TX)

Lee Daniels' The Butler is part lackluster biopic, part ham-fisted (and somewhat misguided) historical allegory - despite noble intentions of the cast and filmmakers.
Sandy Schaefer-ScreenRant

The film is entertaining but awfully slender -- a light look at heavy history.
Matt Brunson-Creative Loafing

It makes the most important American story of the 20th century personal and electrifying.
James Verniere-Boston Herald

If Forest Whitaker wasn't in this film, it would have been a misfire.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

You realize it was released in the summer as an Oscar contender, because it won't be an Oscar contender in November.
Willie Waffle-WaffleMovies.com

Whitaker stands astride "The Butler" as solid and unmoving as the Washington Monument.
Bob Bloom-Journal and Courier (Lafayette, IN)

Strong performances and a straight-forward script allows Lee Daniels' The Butler to solidly deliver on expectations.
Adam A. Donaldson-We Got This Covered

Both (Daniels) and Strong have compressed an engrossing saga covering the Civil Rights Movement, five presidents, a family's generational growth, and a love story into 132 minutes. It had to be a daunting task, but it works
Steve Crum-Video-Reviewmaster.com

It's another of the film's ironies that while Gaines owes his success to an ability to make a room feel empty, Whitaker, even at his most still and silent, fills the frame with life -- with presence.
John Beifuss-Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)

New Trailer For Robot & Frank

Robot
Special Review For Movie Robot & Frank
Ultimately, it feels as though the filmmakers have settled for the soft option one too many times, and the result is a pleasant but unmemorable watch.
Tom Huddleston-Time Out

"Robot & Frank" hits all the right notes - romantic, fantastic, tragic and sweet.
Tom Long-Detroit News

There's a warm and poignant interplay between the co-stars.
Colin Covert-Minneapolis Star Tribune

Langella ... is tremendous.
Bill Goodykoontz-Arizona Republic

It may not seem like an even playing field pitting an actor as powerfully intense as Frank Langella opposite a robot, but that's the game plan behind the waywardly endearing, slightly futuristic fantasy Robot & Frank.
Peter Rainer-Christian Science Monitor

Much of Robot & Frank is (frankly) resistible, including the climactic narrative twist, but there is also a likeable oddness that transcends the sentimental contrivance.
Liam Lacey-Globe and Mail

While the premise certainly makes it stand out from the sea of dysfunctional family dramas, a cute idea alone doesn't quite cut it.
Cory Everett-The Playlist

A slightly futuristic treatise on aging, family and the pitfalls of mechanical screenwriting.
Al Alexander-The Patriot Ledger

Christopher D. Ford's seamless screenplay provides a light-comedy vehicle that Langella rides to a satisfyingly original, epiphanic finale.
Matt Kelemen-Las Vegas CityLife

The robot gives an ironic twist to Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics", and the movie is highly enjoyably for three quarters of the way.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

Explores in subtle and heartbreaking ways how memory becomes a defining part of who were are and where we're going.
Alistair Harkness-Scotsman

Often moving and deeply personal, Robot & Frank is a rewarding - if often underdeveloped - antidote to the plethora of loud and overblown movies that tackle the theme of technology's role in our futures
Ben Rawson-Jones-Digital Spy

The film tries to say something coherent about important issues such as the descending darkness of old age but misses the mark with most of them.
Derek Malcolm-This is London

A warm drama that drifts into light, goofy comedy, this film is too slight to be a classic, but its subtly sharp-edged script holds our interest and gives the cast something to work with.
Rich Cline-Contactmusic.com

A small but perfectly formed tale with plenty to say about the nature of friendship.
Richard Edwards-SFX Magazine

The pair's low-key crime spree provides some gentle suspense, but it's the developing friendship between the grouchy ex-thief and the robot that will beguile viewers most.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

Despite the amusing premise this isn't funny, moving or eventful enough to merit a trip to the cinema.
Henry Fitzherbert-Daily Express

Robot & Frank does not quite deliver a killer punch, but it's an engaging, humane fantasy.
Peter Bradshaw-Guardian [UK]

Frank Langella forms an engaging double act with a piece of moulded metal alloy in Robot & Frank.
Nigel Andrews-Financial Times

Here's a film with a premise that could have played horrendously in the wrong hands.
David Gritten-Daily Telegraph

A fairly cheap trick towards the denouement aside, this is cutely observed, thoughtful work.
Chris Fyvie-The Skinny

Robot and Frank were electric. The rest? Sheepish.
Sophie Monks Kaufman-Little White Lies

Enjoyable, well written and superbly acted comedy drama that cleverly blends buddy movies, Sci-Fi flicks and caper pictures into an emotionally engaging film about old age.
Matthew Turner-ViewLondon

Frank Langella subtly provides the heart and soul as the crafty Frank, a game retiree whose disreputable inclinations take the story in a pleasingly unsentimental direction - think Wall-e meets The Thomas Crown Affair.
Tim Evans-Sky Movies

Frank Langella plays former cat burglar Frank and the 75-year-old actor holds the entire film together with his screen integrity.
Graham Young-Birmingham Post

An ageing Frank Langella and a disembodied Peter Sarsgaard make for an unexpectedly dynamic double act in this refreshingly unsentimental geriatric drama. Robust and frank.

His routine involves daily visits to his local library, where he has a twinkle in his eye for the librarian. Initially resistant to the idea, Frank soon appreciates the benefits of robotic support â€" like nutritious meals and a clean house â€" and eventually begins to treat his robot like a true companion. New Trailer For The Big Wedding

The
Special Review For Movie The Big Wedding
It's not the sheer predictability of the ensuing frolics that's hardest to take, or even the dismal attempts at humour ... but the sheer misery of watching actors you once respected demean themselves in such utterly worthless fodder.
Trevor Johnston-Time Out

Barring a few off-color jokes, though, the movie feels like a Carol Burnett sketch dragged out to feature length.
Ben Sachs-Chicago Reader

It's tired and dated with too few laughs to justify the stultifying attempts at drama and the impossible-to-swallow plot contortions.
James Berardinelli-ReelViews

Looks great, some terrific ingredients, but when you slice it up, what a disappointment.
Richard Roeper-Richard Roeper.com

Sarandon, Keaton and De Niro mesh beautifully, fully convincing as a trio of old friends and carting in lots of characterization that would be otherwise lacking in Zackham's rote screenplay.
Alonso Duralde-The Wrap

The Big Wedding is a would-be screwball comedy that forgets to throw in the screws.
Rene Rodriguez-Miami Herald

The goofy characters waltz through plenty of offbeat situations, but that's not enough because quirky and funny are not synonymous.
Forrest Hartman-Reno Gazette-Journal

What it desperately needed was more originality. I suppose Zackham thought that if he just got a great cast and sprinkled enough humor into it, then those would be enough to cover up all the flaws in the script. Unfortunately, he was very much mistaken.
Jeff Beck-Examiner.com

Behold the unholy matrimony of hack-job romance and whack-job comedy. Witness the blindingly bleached marriage of house-porn and cocky Caucasian privilege. Suffer the union of former A-list stars and express-cashed paycheques.
Brian Gibson-Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Canada)

Built on chaotically disparate tones and extremely broad jokes that never hit their mark, The Big Wedding is completely devoid of laughs.
Josh Slater-Williams-The Skinny

Sinks to new levels of horrid.
Bruce Bennett-Spectrum (St. George, Utah)

At least somebody does fall in the swimming pool. It's Robert De Niro. Unfortunately, he resurfaces.
Donald Clarke-Irish Times

With De Niro inexcusably using what is for many people the single most obscene swear word, this is well off target.
Graham Young-Birmingham Mail

An all-star cast very nearly goes down with the ship as filmmaker Justin Zackham (The Bucket List) indulges in relentlessly farcical silliness.
Rich Cline-Contactmusic.com

Big wedding? Big fat nothing, more like.
Charlotte O'Sullivan-This is London

"Oh God, this is humiliating," trills Diane Keaton and she never said a truer word.
Allan Hunter-Daily Express

This is not so much Meet The Fockers as meet the shockers. The jokes are something old, nothing new, mainly borrowed and sadly blue. De Niro is a shadow of his former shelf, not so much Taxi Driver as taxidermy.
Brian Henry Martin-UTV

Disappointing, poorly conceived comedy that's both emotionally unconvincing and depressingly low on laughs, though the performances ensure that it remains watchable.
Matthew Turner-ViewLondon

Pure claw-your-eyes-out cinema.
Joseph Walsh-Little White Lies

This is one of those farces you come away from thinking the French would have done better. Then you discover that the French have already done it, and better.
Elliott Noble-Sky Movies

A frothy and harmless confection that squanders the on-screen talent.
Damon Smith-Birmingham Post

You'll run out of appendages on which to count the clichés.
Ali Gray-Film4

While it's nice to see talents like Keaton and Sarandon in The Big Wedding, it's ultimately frustrating seeing their talents wasted in Zackham's paper-thin excuse for a rom-com.
Eddie Harrison-The List

We don't.
Helen OHara-Empire Magazine

The jokes are squeezed from the ragged plot with the grace of an arthritic senior citizen trying to get milk out of a coconut by hand.
